IGI Origins is an upcoming IGI first-person stealth shooter hybrid game from Toadman Interactive. ‘ The game is set in an alternate cold war in the sumptuous backdrop of the 1980s, as the prequel to the 2000’s [Project I.G.I.: I’m Going In], where you play as an agent in the service of MI6 on active duty, with the code name “Regent”, traveling around the world to complete his objectives in the Institute for Geotactical Intelligence]’s mission to unravel a mystery that threatens to plunge the world into nuclear annihilation.
Timeline of Updates
2019 – Antimatter Games announced the production of a sequel to [Project IGI]
6th November 2019 – Toadman Interactive launched a teaser trailer for IGI origins. It revealed the main character Regent for the first time. The game was made available for wishlisting on Steam.
Antimatter Games continued to release updates on the game’s development on their YouTube channel throughout the course of 2020,2021 and 2022
13th May 2022 – Antimatter Games announced that Unreal Engine 5 will be used for IGI origins.
26th September 2022 – The first official gameplay reveal was uploaded on Antimatter Games’ YouTube channel. It features pre-alpha ingame footage, as well as several possible weapons such as the SVD Dragunov, MP5, Sten and the Welrod. The map computer also made an appearance.
It was later revealed that the teaser trailer which was released in 2019 was not made by Antimatter games, the producer of IGI origins and that mechanics seen in the teaser may or may not appear in the same way as seen.
5th December 2022 – Toadman Interactive launched another pre alpha teaser trailer. It showed several probable bases, and silhouettes of characters who may appear in the game. It also featured a smart watch which may be used to measure the sound level.
